Held in the Higashi-Kohan area, a part of Lake Toya with an especially great amount of natural features, it’s only a 15-minute drive from Kitayuzawa. Picture-taking, tea time, clothing rental, and other services are all available.

Osaru River Shiraginu no Toko
It is as if white silk flow glitters over the long stream (Osaru) river that flows along Kita Yuzawa Onsen, offering a rare form of natural beauty. The riverbed is spread over green rough bedrock, which creates a rugged carpet of red, green, yellow and other blends that seem to encompass and embrace people who visit.
Sangaitaki
“Sangai Waterfall” is located about 200 meters above the Osaru upstream stream tributary – Sangaitaki River. At the point where the valleys approach each other, for just about 8 meters there is the formation of a waterfall. With width of about 5 meters, it is layers in three tiers, and at closer view you can see five tiers. The autumn leaves around Sangai Waterfall are famous for its place amongst one of Hokkaido’s most beautiful.
Otaki Niagara Waterfall
Approximately 6 km of round-trip routes for you to take in both forest and the river’s relaxing negative ions. Depending on the season, you can enjoy duck viewing on the river. The autumn colored leaves paints an almost ‘burning’ scenery, as skiing is a highlight of the winter.
Hyojyun(Nyoro Nyoro)
Otaki Outdoor Adventures’ definitive version of winter play • Otaki Ice-Bamboo sightseeing spot (also known as Nyoro Nyoro Tour) lets you jump out into nature with snowshoeing. The oldest story of the Ainu which was preserved in a natural volcanic cave amongst 5,000 bamboo-like ice shoots (“nyoro nyoro”). It is an impressive tour that can only be described as “awesome!”.
Nordic Walking
Nordic walking was introduced as a simple walking exercise using poles, in which cross-country skiers performed a “ski walk” for strengthening and training during the summer. It has increased in popularity becoming an exercise everyone can do.
Heisei Furusato no Michi (Cycling Road)
It is a cycling road of 7 km in length from Otaki-ku Kita Yuzawa Onsen area (Soraniwa) to Honmachi Park, utilizing the former site of the former National Rail Chikubo Line abolished in 1986. As there are little up-and-down climbs, everyone from children to the elderly can enjoy jogging and cycling freely.
Otakisogoundo Park
It is an exercise park with an official track and field stadium, baseball field, tennis court, cross country ski course and Nordic walking course. The 4th-class official track and field stadium holds a 400-meter one-lap track, of which the inside of the field can be used as a lawn soccer field. Located in a nature abundant mountainous area, it is the optimum environment for camping during the summertime, as many athletes visit each year to train.
Otaki Nature Friendship Exchange Facility (Park Golf)
An ease and pleasure for everyone from children to the elderly, and the circle of generational exchange is expanding. Walking around the promenade you can feel a comfortable breeze with your family and enjoy playing a fairway wide park golf course. It is a course that even beginners can shine on. There is a kitchen located in front of the facility, and you can enjoy camping in the park.
Sangaitaki Park
Sangaitaki Park is the perfect place for bird watching and walks. It can become a bit crowded with many tourists as it is one of the most popular spots in Otaki district. “Totem Pole Hill” is a small hill in Sangai Waterfalls Park, with unique wood carvings arranged to commemorate the sister exchange held with Lake Cowichan town in BC and Vancouver Island, Canada.
Mount Horohoro ・Mount Tokushunbetsu
Mount Horohoro is the highest mountain in the Iburi area. Experienced people can enjoy a variety of climbing, and beginners can sample appropriate climbs, respectively. From the summit of Tokushunbetsu, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of places including Niseko, Mt. Yotei, Lake Shikotsu, Mt. Eniwa and far off into the Pacific Ocean.
